You can still cross the bridge, even with what looks like permanent security on site, and the area is beautiful. The river below the Hotel/SPA has thermal springs where you can bathe naturally, though the hotel itself has been closed for a while. The water is shallow and can get quite hot. You can find a comfortable spot to relax, including a rock pool at a temperature you like. It’s a lovely experience and a beautiful place. It’s a shame the derelict hotel is still there. It should be renovated or removed.

The trail is a bit steep, and the gravel gets slippery, so wear sneakers or other shoes with good grip. The road and parking area are well maintained. This five-sided castle tower sits in the forest, with five levels, but you can't go inside while it’s being renovated. From there, you get great views of the coast and the small lake below. It’s a striking place that makes you picture the people who once lived there, rising proudly toward the sky.

There's not much around besides the tower, and it doesn't seem to get many tourists, which is nice if you like getting off the beaten path. The abandoned castle sits on a lovely ridge, about a 15-minute hike up a gravel road.

The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and all spoke English. This old spa hotel is full of history, but it’s way out in the sticks. There’s no mobile signal, so expect to be disconnected, and the Wi-Fi is patchy.

It’s a horrible building and a real eyesore that spoils an otherwise fantastic place. Old photos from the late 1800s or early 1900s show it used to be lovely and romantic, but it was expanded in the 50s or 60s into a concrete monster.
