Villa Isabela

The food was so bad I had to make myself eat just so I wouldn’t be hungry. It seemed like they’d bought whatever was cheapest at a shop, and the apple at breakfast was already starting to rot inside. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room either. I’ve stayed at two 3-star hotels in Italy in the past week, and this 4-star place wasn’t any better than either of them. It looks good enough to get people to pay, but once you’ve paid, the illusion of an expensive hotel wears off. Such a letdown. It’s pathetic.

Everything smells rancid, and the rooms are tiny. The beds can literally fall apart in the middle of the night. Every key seems to open every door except for one, for some reason. I think only two of the TVs in the whole place work, and both are under 14 inches wide with awful sound. There’s no real fan system, just a humming from the ceiling if you switch on enough wall switches.

The service was unpleasant, and Wi-Fi costs extra. The bathroom was old and dirty, with no toilet paper or soap, and no clean glasses. Breakfast was just two pieces of stale ham and toast, without butter. Really a 4-star hotel? One star feels too generous. I’d rather sleep in a car. I really can’t recommend staying here.

The food and service were fine. The rooms were fine too, though the bathroom shower was broken, and someone had left a band-aid on the shelf.
