We ate at the restaurant twice, and both meals were stellar. The breakfast was wonderful too, with garden fruit and homemade treats. Our room was spacious and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, and we had a small terrace and hammock to use. Everyone on staff was so nice, all smiles and ready to help or answer questions. It’s a short walk up a hill, though it’s not bad, and they can arrange transport for a fee if you ask ahead.

The hotel feels private, but still made us feel like part of the family. Their kindness showed in all the little things, from filling our water bottles before we headed out to making eggs just the way we liked them. The family’s warmth and the bright sunshine made our trip to Salina even better than we’d imagined.

You can feel the family history at Hotel Mamma Santina, which gives the place a homely feel. Service was professional and everything was clean, from the rooms to the restaurant at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was a pleasure staying here, and I’d strongly recommend it if you want somewhere comfortable and home-like.

The hotel is tucked up a hill, so nights were quiet and peaceful, even though shops and restaurants were only a few minutes away. We loved the clean, charming pool and our rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was excellent, with homemade jams and granitas, and the staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. It was a joy to get a taste of Aeolian life in this family-owned hotel in the heart of Santa Maria, Salina. I hope I can return before too long!

From the hotel, it’s an easy walk to Santa Marina’s shops, restaurants and the bus stop for exploring the rest of the island. Hotel Mamma Santina made my visit to Salina perfect, thanks to the beautiful place and the welcoming team. Try the restaurant food, and don’t miss their homemade granita at breakfast.
