The place itself is very nice, but I left lunch feeling cheated and disappointed. I ordered sausages and a litre of wine. They poured the wine from a large bottle into an unmarked carafe, and it was obvious to me that it was nowhere near a litre. When I asked, they said it was. I asked again, and once they realized I knew what a litre looked like, they acted as if they didn't understand and added at least another 30% to the carafe. The sausages arrived soon after. It looked clear to me that they'd cut two portions from a single sausage, which can be quite large in this region. I didn't challenge the staff about that. Wine and sausages aren't expensive to source, so I don't understand why they play these silly games.

The view of Mount Penna from the refuge is stunning, with a lovely lawn right in front. After years of renovation, Aveto Park has finally opened the place and licensed it to local people, who offer food, drinks, and even a place to sleep. I've only tried the kitchen, and the service was very good, with friendly staff. It's a perfect starting point for hikes to Mounts Penna and Aiona, in what may be the best mountain area in this part of the Ligurian Appennins.
