Hotel La Playa Blanca

The staff were nice and helpful, and there's a bar and restaurant with lunch available. Dinner felt overpriced for the quality, and breakfast was poor and repetitive, though the coffee was good. The room was spacious but worn and dated, with a little fridge. The air conditioning was so loud we had to switch it off at night, and a gap in the closed balcony door let noise in. The hotel is by a rocky beach, with direct access, and the area is quiet, though the railway tracks are right nearby. The pool is nice, but they emptied it for cleaning and left it empty for three days. There are two small parking areas, but the only access road was under construction in September 24. Getting to town means a long uphill walk, and finding transport without a car could be difficult. It's fine for an overnight stay, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a long one.

The room rate was far too high for this place. We paid for two nights but left after one, it was disgusting and felt like a scam. The receptionist seemed drunk, although the staff did help us because road works meant we couldn't drive up to the hotel. The hotel is right by the train tracks, so there was a lot of noise. The pool was green and filthy, and the rooms weren't any better, though our balcony had a nice view. The bathroom smelled of sewage, and the room was full of insecticide, which gave me a headache. The bed was hard and crunchy, and everything felt old, worn out, and dirty. The way down to the stony beach was dangerous, and it wasn't suitable for swimming.

The food was a real letdown. There was no menu, just a fixed three-course dinner, and breakfast offered little choice: bread, croissants, yogurt, three kinds of meat, and one cheese. The dishes shown on the website didn't match what was served, and we were shocked to learn the photos were over two years old. They served wine in plastic glasses, which seemed odd for a place presented as four-star. The suite we booked had light fittings hanging from the ceiling, mold in the shower, cracks, and poor repairs throughout. The hotel is dated and far from major attractions, so a car is essential. Its location is excellent, but the remote setting, worn condition, disappointing meals, and gap between the advertised and actual food make it hard to see this as a four-star hotel. Keep these things in mind before booking. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

The staff were lovely and really helpful, and the owners made sure we were always looked after. The chef was great, and the food was delicious and freshly made. Our stay was peaceful, with a private beach and great music, and the hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff can arrange day trips, so you can just relax and enjoy your holiday. Honestly, this is one of the best places I've ever stayed. I recommend it.
