Honestly, it’s a mixed bag. The price felt excessive, €90 for no service, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The breakfast was terrible, with everything packaged, and we had to make our own coffee and tea. There isn’t much room if a lot of people are there. No cleaning or bed making at all.

The terrace has a view, and the room was okay, but the pillows felt like stones under their cases and there’s no TV. Breakfast is self-serve, which is fine if nobody’s there to serve you, but that shouldn’t mean there’s no fresh food. There was no fruit, bread, cold cuts or eggs, for example. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by stays in Trentino, South Tyrol and Romagna.

We stayed here during the Gran Sasso Trail and got a warm welcome from the owners’ family. Breakfast was self-catered in the shared kitchen. Our room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and we made use of the small terrace overlooking the village.
