Hotel Bladen

We didn’t stay overnight, but stopped in for dinner last week while passing through Sappada on a Dolomites hiking trip. The traditional South Tyrollean dishes were delicious. The manager was super friendly and took care of all our dining requests. A great experience.

The shared playroom was a lifesaver with our little one having the flu, and the location is very convenient for families with small children. Breakfast has a great range of options for different tastes. Dinner is refined and offers excellent value for money. The waiters and staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help with requests.

The location is excellent, with mountain views, and Nevelandia and the ski lifts only steps away. Those were the main reasons we booked, along with the advertised private garage. We booked through the hotel website without trouble, for January 7th to 9th: €440.00 for two adults and our two-year-old, in a triple room with half board. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I can’t stay quiet about this experience. The garage wasn’t there. The hotel only offered street parking, despite explicitly advertising a private garage on its website. That’s a serious problem. We were put in room 47, sold as a “comfort triple with balcony.” In reality it was a double room with a cot beside the bed, taking up storage space. The cot had only a mattress on its base, with no sheets or pillow, so it was practically unusable. I hope that’s easy to fix. We didn’t ask for anything because our child was going to sleep with us. The bathroom mirror had splatters when we arrived, hopefully toothpaste from a previous guest, and there was a hair on the bathtub and another on the bidet. The room was freezing when we checked in, with temperatures outside between -10 and -15. Reception said the heating was on a timer and would come on in the evening. It did, but then the room reached 30 degrees Celsius, and with no way to adjust it, we slept in tropical heat. Dinner was another letdown. The hotel advertised à la carte meals with a vegetable buffet, but there was no buffet, just dispensers that were sadly empty. The first night, our daughter was served raw pasta with cold tomato sauce poured over it, not gravy, just sauce. It was inedible, and the meal ended there. The dishes reserved for us were also inedible. We went to another hotel for dinner the next night. Breakfast seemed frozen, and there was no toaster. I’ll leave it at that. The staff’s welcoming smiles were one of the few good points, along with the location. The waiter, though, was so annoying he came across as rude. I was left feeling overwhelmingly ripped off, and that bothers me most. I won’t return.
