I've stayed at La Gustea three times over the past eight years, most recently for two weeks, and I can't picture choosing anywhere else when I come to Sarteano. Nadia and Felice are lovely hosts. Nadia is generous with advice about historic places and other points of interest, and she's happy to help guests with whatever they need. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a fresh color scheme, good lighting, and high-quality furnishings and fixtures. The rooms have recently been updated and are immaculate. Some look toward Sarteano's hilltop castle. The hotel sits on a quiet residential street just outside the historic center. Breakfast is included, and there's plenty to choose from: fresh pastries and croissants, farm eggs cooked to order, prosciutto, seasonal fruit, and more. The restaurant has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoy the many good restaurants in town, but the hotel is still where I most like to have dinner. Felice is a creative chef, and every entree I've tried has been high quality, with a delicious mix of ingredients. This time, my favorites were the fried zucchini blossoms and handmade pici with white pork ragu, ginger, and lemon. His pizzas are the best in the area too. I highly recommend La Gustea Hotel and Cucina.

I felt at home here as a solo traveler, thanks to how personal and welcoming Nadia and Felize were. Nadia helped with anything I needed and even went out of her way to sort out transportation. The place is quiet and clean, breakfast was delicious, and the pizzas were sooo good. The town piazza was about a 12-minute walk, which I did most days. Five stars don't feel like enough. I'll definitely come back.

Nadia was so kind and accommodating, and we had a wonderful stay. The room was spacious, bright, and spotless. Breakfast was delicious, especially the eggs, and dessert was great too. We'll have to return to try dinner. The prices were very reasonable, and I'd highly recommend it. Thanks!

The owners, Nadia and her husband, made this stay especially memorable. They were genuinely warm and attentive, and for once I felt at home as well as comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of lovely places over the years, but never had quite that feeling before. This was my first visit to Italy, and staying here felt like finding a real gem. The hotel itself is modern and clean, with generously sized rooms and a look and feel I really liked. Thank you again.

The hotel is pleasant, family-run, and has luxurious rooms, a gorgeous modern bathroom, and an elevator. Breakfast has a fairly limited selection, perhaps because the hotel is small, and there were no gluten-free pastries. The tea came in very tapered cups that were awkward for children to hold steadily. There’s no pool either. These details matter. My main reason for taking off a star was the internet. In a four-star hotel I expected working Wi-Fi in the room, but the connection felt like the 1990s, with speeds like a 50kb modem. The locked entrance also runs on key cards, and families should get two: with just one, some people can’t head out while someone else stays in the room. A nice hotel, but the connection at least needs improving.
