You’ll need a car since it’s out in the countryside, though the location is handy for Alghero, Sassari, porto Torres, and Stintino. The rooms are about a 10 minute walk from the breakfast hall, but you can drive over too and park there. Breakfast is served from 7.30-9.30. The owners are friendly and approachable, and the place has a homely feel. Breakfast was great, with homemade cakes, pastries and jam, plus eggs from the owners’ chickens. The price was amazing. Our room had air conditioning, a fridge, hot water, a comfortable bed, and nice decor. There’s a little patio outside and plenty of parking. They also do a traditional Sardinian dinner, but you need to check when they’re planning one, since it only happens if enough people are interested. We just missed it. The fixed menu is 35€ for homemade Sardinian food.

I spent nearly two months at Gavina this summer, and Emiliano made it feel like I was part of his family. He’s such an open, gracious host. The house and the surrounding farmland are picturesque, and the setting is wonderfully quiet for relaxing. Nearby Siena is only a 10 minute drive away. I can’t recommend staying here enough!

We found the farmhouse through Booking.com and Google Maps. It sits about equally far from Alghero, the beaches at Stintino, and the rocky coves on the northwest coast. The rooms were spotless, welcoming, and, best of all, air-conditioned. Breakfast had plenty of food and options, and dinner at the farmhouse was delicious and generous too. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
