The hotel did the job as a stopover, with a bar and restaurant, and the room was nice. But the man at reception was completely unhelpful when we arrived, maybe because we’re English? You have to pay extra for air conditioning and parking. It's in a busy city, and restaurants don't open until 8pm.

The staff did their best to help us, and having parking was a plus. The rooms, though, badly need work: some had no A/C, the shower and tub had no curtain, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The furniture is very dated, some of it needs urgent repair, and there’s carpet on the floors.

The beds and room were clean, towels were replaced every day, and parking was free. The hotel feels dated, and breakfast was just moderate. Coffee and tea came by the cup or pot when requested, with no extra charge. We’d asked for a quiet room but got one near a very loud bar and restaurant on the next street. We couldn’t sleep, so we called reception around 23:30 and were moved to a better room. The air conditioning didn’t work in either room. In September, opening the window meant it cooled down later in the evening, but I can imagine the lack of A/C being an issue in hotter months.

The breakfast was delicious, though eggs weren’t included. The rooms were clean, and the location was really handy. It’s quite a vintage place, and the service was decent enough. They don’t speak English, so it’s a chance to practice Italian. Smart TVs in the rooms would be one way to improve things.
