Residence Argentiera

The beach was fine, and we enjoyed the barbecue hut along the shore. The residence is nice and clean, and so was our room, though there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. There's no air conditioning, but we were told that before we chose the place.

We had a really pleasant stay. It was quiet, and the location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from the beach. Host Nadia was always very kind and attentive. The apartments are basic, with some tradeoffs: Wi-Fi hardly worked, phone service was patchy (which I actually liked on vacation), and there were limited dishes, towels, and sheets, though you can ask for extras. Not every room has air conditioning, but the area is almost always breezy. There's no washing machine in the apartments, but one is available in a shared room on request, and the host is always willing and able to use it.

The beds and pillows were pretty bad, and the service wasn't great, even though the woman running the place was nice. We'd run out of the half roll of toilet paper she left us and asked for more. She said it wasn't a hotel. The only good point is how close it is to the beach. For the price and what you get...

The owner was very kind and helpful, and Argentiera is a quiet little village, though quite dated. The clear water, calm beach, and hills with their hiking trails were lovely. But being next to the main road was a real problem for us. We couldn't let the kids play alone in the garden, and the route down to the sea didn't feel completely safe. The bathroom was noisy and smelled bad, the kitchen was too cramped and uninviting to cook in, and other residents made a lot of noise late into the night, with loud music and slamming doors. I wouldn't book it again with small children.
