We couldn’t see Lake Sauris from the terrace that day, since fog covered the view, but Pa' Krhaizar was a welcome place to rest after a long walk. Inside the old stone house, it was warm, with the smell of wood and a sense of stories held in the building. The misty day also brought a small kindness I won’t forget. I had a large banknote for a modest bill, and the waitress simply let the missing sixty cents go with a gentle smile. She didn’t make an issue of it or ask for change. Thank you for the rest in that lovely house, and for a little gesture that made the foggy day feel brighter.

We visited in June, when many places were still closed, but the hotel had everything we needed. The staff were kind and helpful, and suggested a few walks nearby. We tried the route by Sauris lake and the one climbing to the cottage on trail number 2, both easy and relaxing. The food and decor were excellent, and I liked finding cookies on every floor. Breakfast was good too.

We stopped in for a tasty plate of local cheese, ham, and speck, though we didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t say what the rooms are like. The hotel sits in a lovely spot with a broad mountain view. It faces a road, but there’s very little traffic, and the room photos look nice.

The local beer, Zahre, went so well with the pizza we ordered topped with local cheese. I can’t remember the name of the cheese or the pizza, unfortunately, but that pairing made a meal to remember. The food was a highlight of a great time there. Definitely give it a try.
