Small pets can stay at no extra charge, and you get your own keys on arrival, so coming and going is easy. The guesthouse is on the second floor, reached by stairs or elevator, and it’s a 13-minute walk from the central station and 12 minutes from the beach. The building is close to everything, including a supermarket, bar, and restaurant. At the entrance there’s a sofa and table where you can have breakfast with food provided by management, plus a refrigerator and microwave. Rooms differ: some have private bathrooms and others share one. All the bathrooms were clean and stocked with hand soap, shower soap, and bidet soap. Each bed had body, face, and bidet towels. A good place to stay for a few nights while visiting Savona.

The room was spacious, clean, and affordable, with comfortable beds in a central location. The basics were there, but a few things were frustrating. There was no water provided, so we bought some, even though the bathroom water was fine. The kettle couldn’t be used because pieces of its heating element were coming loose and made the water dirty. Also, the shared bathroom door wouldn’t close, so you could end up in there with strangers.

This was a weekend to forget. I paid €90 for a room without a private bathroom, which was shared with other guests, and then was told air conditioning would cost another €10 per night. In summer, charging extra for AC in the room feels criminal. With the windows open, the heat and noise kept me from sleeping. Reception was terrible. To cap it off, the water bottles I’d bought and put in the fridge the night before for the beach were stolen.
