Hotel Parco dei Principi

The hotel was terrible. The water was fine on the first day, then began to stink the next day. People who drank it at lunch got sick, and some were even hospitalized. Hygiene was awful, with a cockroach in our room. The place could have been okay, but there were fires all around, and the higher-ups among the staff were rude, though not the servers.

We stayed for seven days at the end of August, the whole family of four, and had a great time. The rooms were kept clean, though they're a little old and need renovation. Everyone we dealt with was polite and responsive, and they tried to sort out problems quickly. The food was a huge plus: meat, fish, vegetables, pasta, cakes, plenty of it, and all very tasty. The all-inclusive package also covered water, wine, and drinks on tap during meals. The kitchen staff were especially kind. We never went hungry. It's a handy spot for families or adults. The hotel is five minutes from the beach, far enough from the noisy center but with a supermarket, pharmacy, and other things close by. The beach was clean, with umbrellas and seats reserved by the hotel. There is a pool, but we didn't use it because the sea was fantastic. The entertainers brought a lot of energy. They put on concerts every evening and games for children and adults during the day, and we enjoyed seeing a new show each night. Big thanks to Vike, Martina, and Angelica, who were attentive and kind, and played with our kids. The soap party on the beach was really funny too. We'd come back for sure, and hope the staff will still be the same.

The view of the sea from my balcony is wonderful, and being right across the road from the beach must be fantastic in summer. Everyone gave me a lovely, friendly welcome and was helpful, especially since my Italian is limited. I'd recommend it to anyone coming to Scalea. This is just my own experience, as everyone travels differently, but I'll be back soon to relax in the sunshine and enjoy that lovely wine in the evening. The price was right, and the hotel is comfortable and conveniently right across from the beach.
