Camping Piper

We had a pleasant two-night stay with a small tent. The campsite seems mostly set up for camper vans, but tents are fine too. It's close to the beach, the facilities are decent and clean, there's shade, and there's even a little grocery shop on site. The price was the highest we'd come across in all our travels around Italy. In the evenings, showers often have a queue even though they're time-limited, and you pay a small fee for every three minutes of warm water.

I wouldn't choose this campsite again. The pitches are tiny, a 6.50 m camper won't fit, and the ground is a dusty, dirty mix of sand. The toilets are acceptable, but they're all concentrated in one spot, the plumbing is old, and there's no toilet paper. The place generally feels neglected. Reception displays last year's lower prices. Nine-year-olds count as adults, so I paid 57 euros per night for two adults and a 9-year-old child. The sea is fine if you don't mind walking about 200 m with water only up to your knees.

Last summer, I booked a place in the shelter because I was travelling with my four-month-old baby. When my family and I arrived, there was no space available there. Since I'd already paid a deposit, I felt obliged to stay for a few days. We left for a better place after that, and we'll never return to Piper camping site.

The beach is the only good part. Showers are supposed to be hot, but in practice they aren't. The people and service were awful, and the standards were terrible for U.S. prices. This place should be free, it's not worth paying for. I'm never coming back.
