Podere La Casella

We stayed for one night while hiking the Path of the Gods from Bologna to Florence. Simone made us feel welcome, and dinner was delicious, with pasta, wine, local meats, and cheese. Breakfast was a great start to another day on the trail. The inn looks out over gorgeous countryside, and the pool being installed will be a lovely addition.

For anyone hiking the V.D.D, there’s a route option about 5 km north of galliano -st agatha. At a crossroads on the trail, taking the "cammino de galliano" on the right brings you much closer to the BnB than the regular V.D.D route through st. Agatha. We stayed after hiking from Passo della Futa. Simone, who owns and runs the BnB, contacted us on WhatsApp in English before we arrived with information about our stay. He greeted us very personally with cold drinks after our long day on foot. Renovated throughout in sept. 2023, it has a high-end finish, spacious rooms, and a great hot shower. Since there isn’t much nearby, Simone’s dinner is a good option if you’re walking. It was Tuscan-style, plentiful, served with wine and a digestif, and adjusted to our preferences. Ask about his homemade limoncello. Breakfast was excellent too, with lots of sweet and savoury choices. A great experience on the via degli dei, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Our hosts were so welcoming, and the views, rooms, and breakfast were all more than we could have hoped for. We’d gladly return anytime and recommend the place to anyone.
