Hotel Sunnwies

Loved the pool, and the food was really good.

We stayed with our family between Christmas and New Year’s and had a great visit at this family-run hotel. The views across Schenna and the Merano Valley are breathtaking, and it’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy yourself. The buffet and set-menu food was excellent, and we especially want to thank Silvia for her outstanding service. There’s also a lovely wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor one stays open in winter, so you can swim while taking in those views.

The place lived up to even our highest expectations. A big thank you to the “Sunnwies” family for their generous hospitality and for being so willing to share tips that made for a great mountain experience. It’s a comfortable place with plenty of comforts, including a heated outdoor pool. And the cooking deserves a mention too, it was on a level with top gourmet restaurants. Glad we made such a good choice for once!

We had a wonderful time, and the owners and team clearly care a lot about what they do. The location in Schenna is very good, the outdoor pool is great, and road noise wasn’t a problem for us. Thanks for a lovely stay! Some details did keep this from being a perfect score. We had a room for three, with three beds and meals for three, but only two bathrobes were provided. Getting a third cost €2.50. It’s not about the amount, but three people need three bathrobes. The indoor pool looks a little dated, and loose mosaic tiles in the whirlpool were especially bothersome. Guests had put the tiles beside it, leaving very sharp edges on the seating area. That needs fixing. The sauna area was also uninviting: the fountain wasn’t working, and it was quite dark. The family seems to be investing in many parts of the hotel, so I expect these issues will be sorted out soon.
