The crescia made by the owner is excellent. Celestino Diamantini is a chef who has appeared on the TV program Cuochi d'Italia, and the food is rooted in local tradition and ingredients. He carries on the business with a lot of love and dedication, following his grandfather and father. He’s also very welcoming and available to guests. The property is spacious and surrounded by the greenery of Monte Cucco Regional Park. The simple rooms all have balconies with lovely views of Mount Pianelle, Mount Catria, and Scheggia. It’s a peaceful place in the low season, while groups are common during high season. You can set off for excursions to Mount Calvario, which overlooks the property, and there’s a small, charming sanctuary nearby. For art and culture, Gubbio and Fabriano are close, and Urbino, Perugia, and Assisi are all less than an hour away. The Frasassi Gorges and Caves are also within reach.

We were told there wouldn’t be hot water, which was fine, but there was no heating either. My partner and I were too cold to sleep, even wearing layers of sweatshirts and jackets under old, thin blankets. The beds were old, broken in places, and propped up with wooden boards. The toilet had no seat. The rooms need a makeover, a proper clean, and fresh paint. We only stayed one night. The location is nice, the food was good, and the staff were welcoming. It seemed like it could be a nice hotel, which makes the state of the rooms a shame. I’ll add a few photos to show what I mean.

The view from the hotel is stunning, and the owners made us feel very welcome. My parents had stayed here two or three times and recommended it to us, and we were glad they did. The place is clean, well-equipped, and has a quaint feel, high up among the pines. The food was a highlight: everything was excellent quality and prepared with care. We enjoyed the cured meats, cheeses, meat, and fresh pasta. We had a wonderful time and hope to come back, maybe in winter.

The dining room looked untidy and not very clean, with paper tablecloths over wooden boards set on trestles as tables. The food was very poor, and there was no choice at all. The basic conditions for a decent stay were missing throughout. My husband and I were in room 102 on an organized trip. The organizer had relied on the website photos, which were very misleading. Our room was gloomy, with old iron bed frames and wooden boards beneath the mattresses. The bathroom was run-down, with separate hot and cold taps from the 1930s. The floor shower looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months and was full of dead insects. The room was freezing, there was no heating, and we slept in our clothes. The beds were damp and cold, and the old sheets were patched. Cleanliness was practically absent, and there were insects of all kinds. It felt like a mountain house that had been closed and reopened as shelter from a storm. I hope this review helps other tourists avoid being misled by the site’s very false images.

We were there on April 23, 2023, and I didn’t like a thing. The damp smell hit us as soon as we entered, and it was enough to make you feel sick. The room was awful, with no heating, old and worn furnishings, and almost nothing in it. The beds had dirty, damp sheets, and the bathroom was filthy and full of bugs. Dinner was another shock, enough to leave you throwing up your hands 😱😱😱. This property should be closed immediately.
