Residence Makauda Beach

We’ve already come back twice, and I hope we can return again. It’s a quiet spot just a few steps from the sea, with spacious, single-level apartments and verandas. We had one overlooking the garden. The furnishings are simple, but the essentials are there, and the owners are kind and ready to help. Beach service with lifeguards is included, with outdoor showers and plenty of space outside. It’s a little out of the way and you do take a dirt road to get there, though that wasn’t difficult.

We had everything we needed to cook, and the beach, just 50 meters away, was well equipped. The sea was splendid, especially in the morning, and Sciacca is only a 15-minute drive. Our second-floor apartment had plenty of space and a terrace facing the sea. My wife, my daughter, our newest family member Rudy the Pomeranian, and I stayed from July 27th to August 10th. We came away relaxed, with another piece of our hearts left in Sicily. The owners were courteous and helpful, and the value for money was excellent. Five stars with honors!

The large terrace had a lovely sea view, and we could eat breakfast there or have dinner when we stayed in. The apartment was bright, airy, and spacious, and we were very pleased with its cleanliness, service, and amenities. My wife and I spent a week at Makauda Beach at the end of May. Thanks to the manager/owner for being so friendly and kind.

The sunsets were extraordinary, and the water was clear and fresh. We’ll definitely return for the relaxing atmosphere. There’s a sandy-bottomed sea just a few steps away, with both private and free clean beach areas. Even when the property was full, it stayed remarkably peaceful. There’s a children’s play area with slides and games, a spot to relax, a large area for grilling and eating, a beach volleyball court, and a fairly large bar on the beach. A van comes by each morning selling croissants, bread, and local rotisserie food. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, though there’s no washing machine; you can use one in a designated area for about three euros. The managers were helpful and gave us a map with tips on Sciacca, places for fish or pizza, and sights to visit. It’s only 8 km from Sciacca and wasn’t especially difficult to reach.
