I've been renting an apartment at the "Il Ficomoro" residence every year for a week by the Donnalucata seaside, and I've always enjoyed my stay. It's got the basics and is enough for a proper chance to relax. The manager is kind and helpful every time. My one suggestion would be to add mosquito nets. Otherwise, it's great!

The best things were the indoor parking and being near the sea. Parking is arranged in a line, though, so you have to ask a neighbor to move their car whenever you need to get out. The location is out in the countryside, away from the center and amenities. There's no walking path to the beach, just an old, abandoned roadside. Inside, the house is run-down and moldy, with damp walls crumbling away. Water constantly leaks from a stone wall in the bedroom. The kitchen is moldy too, and only separated from the owners' home by an interior door. There's one air conditioner in the bedroom, while anyone sleeping on the sofa bed in the kitchen gets an old, rusty makeshift fan. The bathroom has no furniture. Its window has been turned into a mirror and is useless, and the shower is in the middle of the room with no tray. The makeshift curtain is about 20 cm too short, so water ends up all over the bathroom. Outside could have been nice, but there isn't much privacy: the patio table looks onto the owner's bedroom window, their kitchen's French doors open onto the apartment patio, and the outdoor eating areas for all the apartments are divided only by a wooden screen, so you can see right through. There are also cameras directly above the dining table and the kitchen/bedroom. There's a wooden shed on the terrace used by the owner as storage and a cellar. It contains the only washing machine, shared by three apartments. I obviously wouldn't recommend this place.

It's peaceful among the greenery, with no disruptive noise, especially at night, and the apartments are comfortable and thoughtfully laid out just steps from the sea. The kitchen has good equipment, though it's a little small. The owner was kind and helpful. The one downside is there's no air conditioning, and Sicily gets hot in August.

A relaxing spot for families, tucked into greenery and just two steps from the sea.

The prices are reasonable, and what really stands out is the friendly, courteous welcome. It's also close to the sea and has parking.
