B&B La Locandiera

Scilla has such a charming, old-fashioned feel, and our room’s balcony looked out over the sea, Sicily and the coastline. The town itself is magical, and you can walk to the beach or the castle on the hill, which dates from the 1500s, in just a few minutes. Prices were very reasonable, even low for a place this beautiful. We loved the hotel’s history, too. It’s small, with family history displayed all over the walls, which made it feel unique. The room was clean and had a patio or balcony. Aldo, the manager, was a wonderful host and very helpful. In the off season there’s no breakfast and nobody at reception around the clock, but if you call the manager when you need something, they’ll be there in a few minutes. There’s also a golf cart service around town for a few euros each way, which comes in handy with all the stairs and steep slopes. We were so glad we stayed here and hope to return. I’d definitely recommend eating at Aldo's restaurant by the beach, Sunset Lounge Bar.

It’s a beautiful place, but our room had to be changed three times in two days because of air conditioning problems. If you book here, get in touch with management beforehand and ask them to check that everything in your room is working.

The location gets two stars from me, but the rooms are mega small. We couldn’t even open our bags. The shower’s for smurfs, there’s no drinking water in the room, and breakfast isn’t included.

When we arrived, there was nobody at reception. A nice student tried to help us, but didn’t know where the room was. The room was tiny, and the bathroom was dirty, with a sink that didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
