The balcony had a nice view, and communication over WhatsApp was good. The rest of our one-night stay in room 2 on the second floor was uncomfortable. The stairs were so narrow that two people were needed to carry a suitcase up. The room felt cramped for two. Air conditioning worked, but there was no bedside lamp. The shower was awful, with water switching from hot to cold and pressure that varied; it had a plastic curtain rather than glass. The toilet flush was very loud at night, and there's no extractor fan. There were no extras beyond shower gel: no fridge water, cups, tissues or other bathroom items, and no kettle for tea or coffee. Parking is on the street, but when we arrived at 12:30 at lunchtime there was just one free spot. There's no breakfast on site, and the nearest cafes are a five-minute walk away.

The people and the town were amazing, and I'd definitely stay at La Bastia again. I was there in November and tried two different rooms, both clean and comfortable. The second-floor room had a beautiful view, and the staff were helpful whenever I needed anything.

The room was clean, but that was the only good thing about it. We were put in the first room, which had hardly any natural light and felt depressing. There was no table, and the mini fridge was too small for a one-liter water bottle. Getting there was difficult: nobody explained how to reach the property, and in the off season there are no taxis. The elevator wasn't working, so walking was the only option, and we had no idea where we were going with our luggage. I worry about guests with mobility issues. Communication was very poor. The breakfast cafe was good, but the owner forgot to tell us it closes on Thursdays. Scilla itself is beautiful and has plenty of other places to stay. I'd skip this one.
