Bed & Breakfast Le Piagge

Francesca and her parents were lovely, so welcoming and kind, and they gave us plenty of ideas for what to see and where to go. We’d chosen somewhere to use as a base for exploring Abruzzo, and it worked out just right. We stayed five nights. The rooms were spotless and really well kept, and breakfast was superb, all fresh homemade things. If you want to unwind in beautiful surroundings, this is the place. We’ll be back when we return to Abruzzo, and we’ll bring a bottle of Moscato di Scanzo!

We had a great aperitivo in the garden in the cool evening air, with red wine and a relaxed, almost paradise-like feel. The pasta made with local flours was delicious too. Francesca and her parents run this little gem out in the countryside, and they use ingredients from their own fields alongside carefully chosen local suppliers. The rooms are beautiful, tidy, and well cared for. Breakfast was superb, all natural products. If you don’t feel like going out for dinner, their aperitivo is hearty enough. Bravo Francesca!

We only got away from the city for a couple of days, but had a lovely stay. The hosts are thoughtful, delightful people who really look after their guests. Breakfast was very good, with genuine local products. Highly recommended.

The garden is well looked after, the rooms are nice and clean, and the lounge fireplace makes for a lovely place to relax quietly. We stayed two days and met Marilena, Enea, and their daughter Francesca, all very hospitable, friendly, and kind. The property itself is well cared for and close to Sante Marie. We went during the chestnut festival and enjoyed its pretty, narrow uphill streets. We also visited Cappadocia and took a lovely route to the Church of Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, with the centuries-old oak just a few steps away. We ran out of time and, more than anything, weren’t prepared for the Monte Velino route, so we skipped it. The challenging trails and beautiful landscapes, with protected plants and wildlife, sound fascinating from what I’ve read in other reviews. Experienced hikers can climb by different routes and take in spectacular views. We’re already getting ready for another try. One of the large benches in Scurcla Marsicana is nearby too, bring your passport. We’ll be back in spring for the Brigands' Trail, a 108-km hike we still haven’t completed. Recommended.
