Ostarie Vecjo Friûl

At 74 Eur for the night, the room was more than fair for one person. It was clean, light, tidy, with a wood-and-white look and modern touches in the old building. The shower was great. The only real downside for me was arriving by bicycle, since the route is along the regular highway with lots of trucks and no bike lane. The hosts were especially kind when my wallet was stolen on the first day of my trip, taking all my cards with it. The male owner immediately let me transfer the money to his bank account for the room and the delicate dinner. That kind of flexibility shouldn't be taken for granted. I arrived during the female owner's first day, and she had prepared a cute four-course "Sard" menu to celebrate. I was happy to join. The male owner is Le Chef and she runs the service. In a very local atmosphere, the meal was simple but delicious and filling. The menu included two bottles of water, two glasses of wine, a café and a myrt liquor, all for 37 Eur. Quite a bargain. I had a really lovely night at the Ostaria. It's almost bedtime as I write this, so I can't comment on breakfast yet, but I'm sure it'll be excellent. If you're in the area, this place is a true gem.
