Hotel Alle Piramidi

We loved the view from Hotel alle Piramidi. The rooms are simple, but very clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly, kind, and happy to help. Breakfast had a good selection and everything tasted great. We had a great stay!

We agreed to one of the three arrival dates they offered us. When the date came around, we checked whether our room was actually booked. They had no record of our emails or phone calls, so we had no reservation and there were no rooms available. This kind of management is beyond criticism.

It was just okay. The bed was clean, neatly made, and comfortable, with an extra pillow, and the furnishings were good. The hotel’s restaurant and bar were nice enough, and there’s another nice restaurant uphill behind it, run by twin brothers. The room had some obvious cleaning and maintenance problems. Dust had gathered on the floors and in the corners, and the built in bathroom hair dryer was broken and dusty. The desk guidebook felt sticky. The shower water didn’t flow properly, the basin filled up fast, and the handle was broken, though the temperature was good. You can hear a lot through the thin walls, even with the doors and windows shut: music, people talking, running water, and passing traffic. Bring earbuds if you’re a light sleeper. The balconies face a shared courtyard and sit close together, so relaxing outside can mean looking at other guests. They may suit socialising or getting fresh air and sun, but for privacy you’ll want to keep the balcony doors shut. Traffic also makes the setting less relaxing, though the flowers are nice. Parking doesn’t seem adequate for the hotel’s size. It wasn’t peak season and the hotel wasn’t full, yet both the main lot and the small one in front filled quickly. If you find a space, you’re lucky. The staff were friendly enough, but check in felt unprofessional. Booking online is much better, since the direct booking prices they quoted were quite a bit higher. You’re paying more for the location than the hotel, in my view. I’ve stayed at much prettier, nicer places in northern Italy that cost less per night.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The service and customer support don’t stick to their own rules and Terms & Conditions, and they don’t honor their agreements with the booking partner. Support was slow to reply and didn’t pay attention to my questions. We ended up deciding not to stay there. Not recommended.
