Art Hotel Anterleghes

The rooms, sauna, and general tidiness were all excellent, and we had a really nice stay apart from one thing at checkout. We were charged 40 € per night for bringing our dog, which felt outrageous, especially since the usual price in Val Gardena is 15€ per night. There was no dog service beyond regular cleaning, with no bowl or bed provided. It’s sad to feel ripped off for bringing a dog when the rest of the stay was good. We won’t book here again, since there are plenty of hotels in Wolkenstein with fairer prices for dog owners.

The food was very good, but the rest of our stay at Art Hotel Anterleges was frustrating. The location isn’t ideal, realistically about 20 minutes from the first lift. The included shuttle was repeatedly unavailable when we asked for a pickup, then took ages when it did come. It’s one bus for 50 people and gets overcrowded, so the public buses are a better option. They also don’t allow access to ski equipment before 7 AM, and didn’t tell us in advance, which makes an early start for skiing or cross-country skiing impossible. The staff, especially at reception, were unhelpful in any language and didn’t seem interested in assisting. Families should know that breakfast and supper are served late, and staff were unwilling to adjust anything or suggest solutions. Definitely not recommended.

The four course dinners and generous appetizer buffets were a real comfort after long days of hiking, and breakfast was fantastic, even for our fussy kids. We loved the jacuzzi and other facilities too. The family room with two connecting bedrooms felt a little cramped, so we later switched to two double rooms with balconies and liked those much more. We really loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

The ski area is big enough, and we had an okay stay, though this didn’t feel like the standard four star hotel I expected. The lobby is small and fills up quickly with residents. The hotel itself is small too, and its parking was full most of the time, so we had to park across the road in a lot belonging to another business.
