Bachlaufen Haus

The goats were grazing nearby while I sat on the bench outside with my dog in my lap, watching the mountains change. I even started giving the goats names. My dog settled in so quickly he may as well have been the farm’s official dog. Despite it being peak holiday season, the Mair family's Alpenchalet felt far removed from everyday life, as if time had paused. Its wood and stone design brought to mind a remote hut high in the mountains, though I’ve never actually been the mountain hut type. The chalet was also cosy and elegant, smelled of fresh wood, and was spotless. I got plenty of laptop work done there thanks to the excellent Wi-Fi, then headed out on one of the area's many mountain bike trails. Afterward, the hot tub was a reminder that this stay came with a bit of luxury too. Thank you, Mair family.

Ms. Andria was so kind to my daughters and always had a smile. She made us feel at home, and was easy to reach on WhatsApp. The chalet was spotless, cosy, and had everything we needed for a family stay. There’s one bedroom, a sofa bed in the living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a roomy seating area with comfortable chairs and a lovely mountain panorama. There’s also a washing machine in the main building. We spent four nights in chalet No. D. The five chalets are well placed for exploring northern Italy, about a seven-minute drive from San Candido and half an hour from Lake Braies. We had a really great stay and would definitely return. Nothing was wrong with the place. A children’s playground would be a nice addition, and a portable fireplace or grill would be useful too. We were told those are available only in summer.
