Chalet Edelweiss

A really friendly welcome, and the apartment was fantastic. The room and living area were clean and nicely presented, with town just a short walk away. The underground garage was ideal for storing things securely.

Elena was so helpful and accommodating at Chalet Edelweiss. They don’t usually allow ski boots and skis, but when we had nowhere else to leave them, she kindly let us keep them on the balcony. We had a really great stay and would go back if I visit sestriere again.

The room was in poor shape when we finally got in, with no proper covers, just thin blankets, and a cold room with stone floors that felt like ice. Before that, we arrived at 1630 to check in, but our instructions said check-in started at 1700, so we waited in the lobby. After two minutes, hotel manager Elena came over, said we were too early, pushed us out into the freezing cold, looked at us with disgust, and locked the door. At 1700 we came back in. At the front desk she greeted me by saying, “You are a real problem.” We were charged 100€ per person in “caution,” 400€ total. After talking for a while, we were given a contract with the hotel rules. Guests weren’t allowed, and anyone found there would be kicked out immediately. It had to be silent at 9 o’clock, and if there was ANY sound at all, 100€ would come out of the “caution.” NO skies or boots were allowed at the residence, and if found, the entire caution would be taken. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The hotel was just very bad, and I strongly recommend finding other accommodations.

The rooms were nice and clean, but the stay was mediocre. We expected a balcony room and got something like an underground bunker, with a broken door instead. The kitchen was poorly equipped, so serious cooking was difficult. We also had to hand over our passports on the first night, pay an unreasonable 100€ cash deposit each for six people, and sign a ridiculous document just to get the keys.
