Hotel Cristallo

We had a good-sized room and the location was amazing. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were lovely. But the room was far too hot, with no way to control the temperature. Even the gym had the heating on. I think the hotel's management has a lot to improve. It doesn't feel like a four-star hotel, though I'm sure they could get there with some changes.

Our rooms felt like they belonged in the 80s. The heating was so intense that we had to keep the windows open to breathe, but then street noise kept us awake. The food situation was especially disappointing: I said months ahead that two of the five people in our group were vegan, reminded the hotel by email two days before arriving, and told them again when we got there. All they provided was dry, stale rice cakes, toast, and jam. They said they'd order vegan butter for our third breakfast, but it never arrived. I'm paying a lot of money, and this felt outright discriminatory. Very disappointing.

Don't expect four-star service or quality. Maybe it was a four-star hotel decades ago, like other old, run-down places in the region. For families, the room has a bath but no shower. The fridge didn't work, and they wouldn't fix it. Breakfast was very basic, and staff didn't seem to care. Not a great experience.

The location is excellent for skiing, right across the road. But in every room our group used, the extractor fan was broken, and the rooms themselves are very dated. Breakfast was a mess, with things put in odd places, like the coffee shoved right in a corner. They moved things around a few times but never got the layout right. Staff seemed almost shy, and we'd have to flag someone down to order drinks. Dinner was a mixed bag: some nights were excellent, others were rubbish dressed up on a plate with fancy-looking jus swirled around it. I wish the kitchen focused on tasty food instead of pretentious presentation.
