After two weeks of exchanging messages, the hotel still hadn’t returned the money, so we had to ask Booking to help. We’d been charged twice for our stay, due to staff inattention and my husband. Our room’s windows looked onto the courtyard, and the air conditioning didn’t work, leaving us to keep them open. Pigeons made noise all night, and a couple of times they even flew into the room. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The town’s cathedral is spectacular, and restaurant service was very good. The stay itself was frustrating. We had to park about 7 minutes away and carry all our belongings, since there was no way to drive up to the apartment to unload luggage. That wasn’t explained beforehand, and then we had quite a few steep stairs to climb. The QR code they gave us for a “discount” was useless, so we ended up arguing with the parking attendant. I can’t believe someone who rents and lives in Siena doesn’t know all these rules. I’m not going back.

The room was spacious, clean, and very nice for a fair price, though I wonder if it might rise in high season. Monti’s reception guy was polite, helpful, and kind. Breakfast is served at a pleasant bar called Monti, about ten minutes away, and it was very good. I think booking sites should make it clear that breakfast isn’t on the premises. The location is practically right in the center, though it takes a bit of walking to reach. It’s worth it.

Breakfast overlooking the Baptistery was spectacular, with lots of sweet and savory choices made from quality ingredients. We had a wonderful stay at Birbo from beginning to end. Marco greeted us warmly at reception and gave us all the information we needed. The room was tastefully and practically furnished, with a very comfortable bed, a large excellent shower, and a fantastic central location.

Really good. The room was clean and modern. Breakfast was a little far away, but delicious, with a beautiful view. It’s worth it.
