Hotel Il Giardino

Our rooms are clean and quiet, and the rates are competitive. The city center is just a short way off. We’d definitely recommend staying with us.

We came to Italy for a wedding and had a lovely, clean and spacious room with working air conditioning. The breakfast bar was good too, and the woman at reception was so friendly and helpful. Siena centre is about a five-minute walk downhill, while a taxi takes around five minutes to reach the train station. We’d picked this place partly because it was one of the few hotels nearby with a pool. When we arrived, it wasn’t filled because it was considered out of season. If you’re booking for the pool, check in advance that it’ll actually be open.

The breakfast room was the best part of the stay, and the view from our room was nice, though the room itself was only average, even as a deluxe. The location on the edge of town wasn’t convenient for us. I booked this place specifically for the pool for my family, but it never opened during our three-night stay in the middle of June. I was repeatedly told it would be ready in a few hours or later that day. I was also promised compensation and still haven’t received it. The receptionist was covering several jobs, including bartending, so they seemed very short staffed. I’d probably have rated it four stars if the pool had worked, but I wouldn’t recommend it given what happened.

We liked the view, the friendly staff, and the well-kept grounds. Breakfast was good, and the location near the city gate worked well, with parking available. The parking spaces are tight, though. Our room felt dated and could use renovation; the bathroom was tiny, and its doors didn’t close properly or offer much privacy.
