Villa Larniano

Villa Larniano is close to Siena, a beautiful medieval town, and within a short drive of many Tuscan hill towns. Grocery shopping and restaurants are nearby. During the Palio, which was held the day before we checked out, Anna offered to get us tickets to the trials. We passed, but went into the city and got to share in the excitement that week. She also showed us the winery and told us about her family history. We were seven adults staying for a week, and the villa and estate were lovely. Driving up the secluded road built our excitement. Anna Morfini was a delight as host, checking in when needed and responding right away when any problem came up. The villa had four upstairs bedrooms and one downstairs bedroom with its own bathroom and twin beds. Two upstairs rooms had private bathrooms accessed from the hallway rather than en suites, while the other two had en suites. One had a queen bed, and the other had three beds, two twins and a queen. The covered second-floor porch was wonderful for early coffee or evening drinks. We often saw wild animals in the distance, including wild boar and deer. We used the private pool every day because it was hot. There was also a clay tennis court with rackets available, though we didn’t use it, plus a game room with ping pong, billiards, and foosball. The kitchen had all the plates, pots, glasses, and other essentials we needed, and each bedroom had a fan. We loved seeing the Tuscan landscape in the morning and evening. We also had a private chef cook for us two nights, and were delighted with her food and presentation. What a treat! We’d love to return.

The villa worked beautifully for our group of ten. There was room to spend time together or find a quiet spot indoors, in the garden, or by the pool. The rooms were lovely and detailed, each with its own bathroom, and the place felt spacious as well as cozy. We practiced yoga on the covered terrace, which had a breathtaking view over the Tuscan countryside. Even when it rained, we could still practice outside because it was sheltered. I booked Villa Larniano for a yoga retreat in September with high expectations. I’m a perfectionist, and when you run a business, you don’t want to disappoint your guests or clients. The villa was exceptional. I needed somewhere secluded yet central enough for easy travel, and it’s in the middle of a vine estate, just 6km from Siena. I couldn’t visit before booking and had only the pictures to go by, but the real place is even more beautiful. The interiors, grounds, and road leading up to the villa are all stunning. The kitchen was especially important for our retreat, where we served freshly made vegan food. It was spacious, with a big fridge, all kinds of tools and kitchen aids, a high ceiling, a wooden oven for bread, and a dishwasher, among other things. We felt comfortable and safe for the whole stay, thanks in large part to Anna, the owner and the loveliest host. She was available throughout, and communication was easy and fast. Whenever I texted or called, early in the morning or late at night, she replied within minutes. I’d book again for another retreat or a family gathering. Anna and her team managed the villa really well and went out of their way to meet our needs. We stayed with friends and a changing group of teenagers, and everyone enjoyed a relaxing couple of weeks. It’s an old-school villa with majestic views of the Tuscan hills in every direction, and a great location.

We can’t find fault with our stay at Tenuta Larnianone. The location and accommodation were amazing, and the family were friendly, informative, and so approachable. They couldn’t do enough for us.
