The breakfast was good, and it’s what kept this place from getting one star. The hotel itself is old and run-down, and it leaks when it rains. Our room flooded, but all we got was an apology. To be fair, the man at reception said he’d raised the issue with the owners regularly, but they clearly aren’t interested in maintaining the building.

Max was incredibly kind, attentive, and caring. We had a wonderful stay at hotel scala greca, with large, clean rooms. We had the best time and will be back.

The staff are absolutely helpful, though they come across a little cold. The building is old fashioned but still works, and there’s nothing you’ll be missing. If you need a meal, the restaurant serves decent food at a low price. The hotel is perhaps a bit far from the center of Syracuse, about 5 km, so you’ll need a car.

We were a group of 23, and the staff made things easy for us. The house wine was good and there was plenty to choose from at breakfast. It was great value, and the location worked really well for our battlefield tour. For Syracuse and Ortigia, though, having a car was essential.

After arriving late and exhausted, we found out the hotel couldn't see our booking because its internet was down, despite my having booked in advance and received confirmation. They blamed us instead of helping sort it out, and the service was terrible. We were also first given the wrong room key, which was especially irritating after all the other trouble. I'd definitely look at other places in the area.
