Getting around was easiest with a rental car. The hotel is a little out of the way, but everything is close by car and parking was always available. Syracusa and Ortigia are nearby and have pretty much anything you might need. Sicilian Taxis and Ubers will ALWAYS try to scam you somehow, though. We stayed in late July 2025, and the grounds were lovely. The huge pool was great in the Sicilian heat, and our host was amazing. She speaks English and Italian and made us feel like cousins visiting from Canada. Breakfast was complete every morning and included scrambled eggs, which you don't often find in Italy. Supper depends on how many guests are dining, but there are plenty of good restaurants close by. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for a family of four. If you're traveling in midsummer, don't expect the A/C to cool the room to 18C / 64F. That just doesn't exist in Italy. We'd definitely stay again if we get the chance.
If you need a bit of peace and quiet, this place is a good fit. It's a big old farmhouse turned into a hotel, with a fantastic pool where I watched swallows swoop down for insects while I swam. Breakfast was great, and Syracuse is about a 20-minute drive away. Fontane Bianche isn't too far either.
The rooms are gorgeous and roomy, the pool is beautiful, and the staff are friendly.
The breakfast was a letdown, especially for a four-star hotel in Sicily. There were no local specialties, no ricotta, and not even fresh bread, just packaged toast. The two homemade cakes weren't labeled, the jam was packaged, and the savory options were sparse and poor quality. It really didn't show off Sicilian sweet or savory food, which is a shame because the property itself deserves better. The farmhouse has been renovated with care, and the property and pool area are beautiful. The room was clean, the sun loungers were comfortable, parking on site was convenient, and the welcoming staff, including the owner, made us feel at home. For a four-star place, some details were lacking. The minibar was switched off and nearly empty, with no water. Breakfast glasses were plastic, and the room should have had glass ones. The courtesy kit was very limited. Hand soap dispensers and shampoo and shower gel in the shower would be better.
The only good parts were the breakfast and the pool. The place has potential, but the owner's behavior has cost it a lot, and I won't come back. The welcome was awful, the rooms were dirty, with cobwebs and a thousand feet. Beds were very uncomfortable, and the pillows were hard and far too high. The bathroom hairdryer was empty, so we couldn't dry our hair. Dinner was disgusting and inedible, worse than soup kitchens. There wasn't even fruit or an appetizer, and we had to pay extra on top of the already high room cost. Almost everything else needs a lot of work.
