Bed & Breakfast Le Reve

It's in Sirmione's historic center, and each room has its own name. One of the best places I've stayed. The owner has a lovely eye for decorating, with different colors and a comfortable feel throughout.

Great hotel, ideal location, and really good service.

We booked a double room two months ahead for the GardaLakeMusicExcellence event. We'd texted them our arrival time, but when we got there we still had no instructions for entering the property or any word about which room was ours. I phoned Mr. Cristian. He rushed me off the call, saying he'd text the details, then hung up. At 4 PM, an hour after check-in began, the room was still dirty and hadn't been prepared. I messaged him several times and got no apology. Twenty minutes later, he said his wife would come and sort it out. She arrived half an hour after that. She admitted she couldn't clean properly and asked me to show her how, while we were on the landing and the guest in the next room could confirm what happened. I might have let the late cleaning go if they'd apologized or cleaned the room properly. But I watched her rinse cups and glasses in the still-dirty bathroom sink, using bathroom cleaner and a towel she'd then used on the toilet brush and the toilet itself. I couldn't take any more. She kept insisting I come into the room to tell her how to clean, and I had to point out repeatedly that I was on vacation and it wasn't my job. We cancelled and got a refund, but our holiday was ruined. Sirmione was full on those dates, so we couldn't find another place and had to go home. To make it worse, Mr. Cristian stopped answering calls and taking responsibility. If this is how guests are treated and rooms are cleaned...

The room wasn't ready when we arrived, and the bathroom was dirty, even though we'd told the owner our arrival time more than once. Check-in information came through a little at a time. By the time we reached the entrance, we still didn't know our room or how to get to it. It was hard to reach the owner by phone, and when I finally did, he cut me off and said he'd send everything by text. After another struggle to contact him about the room, he said he'd send someone, without a hint of apology or embarrassment. We waited more than half an hour. Then we saw how the cleaning was done: glasses in the room were washed with the same products and rags used in the bathroom, clean towels were set down on surfaces that hadn't been cleaned, and the same rag was used on the toilet brush and seat. We couldn't watch any longer and reluctantly cancelled our stay. The owner wouldn't answer our many calls, just tried to vanish behind a few messages and blame his wife for everything. We got the room cost back, but two days of our holiday were irreparably ruined, and nothing else was available nearby. The booking was through booking.com, which also sent several messages asking us to confirm more payment through other channels. The owner denied sending them. I've never had that happen with another booking there, either. Stay away if you can. If you really want to stay in Sirmione, there are plenty of better options.
