Hotel Catullo

Elena and Fabio were wonderful when my husband fell sick, going well beyond what we expected. The evening meals were outstanding, the lake views stunning, and the rooms peaceful. There were great vegan-friendly options at breakfast, and the hotel is incredibly animal friendly. Everything is a short stroll away. It’s clear guests return again and again, and I can see why. We were welcomed outside on arrival by the owners, Fabio and Elena. The hotel is ideally placed in Sirmione Old town, and housekeeping brought fresh towels each day. The food was outstanding, and all the staff gave exceptional service. We felt welcome and relaxed, thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, and would definitely like to return. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The owners, Fabio & Elena, made our holiday special from the moment we arrived. They remembered our names and room number, and handled everything with a smile and so much care. We also enjoyed the complimentary live music one evening, wine tasting another evening with delicious local wines served for as long as we wanted, and a boat trip around the lake on our last night. Dinner came with spectacular lake views and plenty of delicious choices. We often couldn’t manage all four courses. Breakfast was exceptional too, with every sort of cake and pastry, smoked salmon, honey still on the honeycomb, plus complimentary prosecco and limoncello. The food really is wonderful, and the hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of old town Sirmione. Our room was a good size, quiet, and very clean. It had a balcony we hadn’t paid extra for, and two complimentary bottles of sparkling and still water were replaced every day. The hotel is very dog friendly. I’m allergic to pets, but it was so clean and well kept that I had no issues. We could have used more long hanging space, and the shower curtain was a bit short, but we really couldn’t fault the place and would go back in a heartbeat. We highly recommend it. Those great reviews are true, this hotel’s a gem.

The free extras were lovely: a cheese and wine evening, a boat ride around the castle, and a cocktail night. Breakfast was stunning, with lots to choose from, especially the cakes and pastries. We’re definitely coming back. Sirmone itself is beautiful, with stunning scenery, lots of restaurants, and a very busy feel. The hotel’s setting is gorgeous too. Fabio and Elena went above and beyond, and waiter Amad and Lily were caring and amazing. Since we’re allergic to fish, they made us a different menu every night and went out of their way to accommodate us. Nothing was a problem.
