Crowne Plaza Milan - Malpensa Airport by IHG

We only needed a room for four hours while waiting for our plane, and it was basic. The service left a worse impression. Victoria at the front desk was on the phone when we arrived and didn't make eye contact. After the call, she didn't greet us or ask how she could help, and wasn't accommodating. The other staff weren't friendly either. We didn't feel welcome at all. Very poor customer service, and I wouldn't recommend it when there are plenty of other places nearby.

The value for money was right up there with the many hotels and B&Bs we stay in while travelling. It's a little gem, and I don't know where some of the lower ratings are coming from. We used it several times for flights in and out of Milan and for the train station. The free shuttle to and from the terminal made getting there easy and saved us a fortune on taxis. The terminal has a train station, with a direct service to Milan Central that was simple to use. The location really worked for us. Our room was clean and nice. Housekeeping came in while we were out and did a great job. Breakfast had so much choice, I can't see how anyone could complain, and both our evening meals were lovely. The reception team and the breakfast and dinner restaurant staff were all nice, polite, helpful, and couldn't do enough for us. A great stay. We'd highly recommend it and would come back.

The staff were kind and respectful, and even helped me practise speaking Italian. I was glad I chose to stay here after reading some recent reviews. The hotel is a little old and worn, but clean and welcoming. I found the shower stall quite spacious for Italy. There was a lot of airport noise, which comes with being so close to planes and runways, so pack earplugs. I did wait about 20 minutes for the airport shuttle, but that seemed reasonable since it stopped at both terminals.

The hotel itself is nice, but the service is a bit lacking. Food at the restaurant and bar wasn't good. The bar manager doesn't arrive until 4:30, so drink options are minimal before then. I'd suggest Samarcanda down the street, about a six minute walk. We got the shuttle to T2, but it went to T1 first, as I expected. I got off to make sure our luggage stayed on board. If I hadn't, it probably would've been left on the sidewalk: other passengers took it out, and the driver wasn't really keeping track or doing a good job loading and unloading. I'd just pay the 16 euros for a taxi. Safe travels to everyone.
