La Stufa Rossa

Those maps and local tips Gerardo left for us really helped us make the most of our short time in Sondrio. We stayed for two nights in September while cycling the Valtellina, and found the apartment spacious, comfortable, clean, well equipped, and full of character. Gerardo was very helpful and obliging.

The thoughtful touch I appreciated most was finding sanitary pads there. That kind of consideration makes a difference when you're traveling. The room was warm, clean, spacious, and had everything we needed, and we were welcomed so warmly and helpfully. The location makes it easy to visit the city center and get to the train station. You can hear the neighbors, though they were fairly quiet while we were there. If we're back in Sondrio, we'll stay at La Stufa Rossa again. Thank you!

We still remember how welcoming our day in Sondrio felt. Gerardo was kind, empathetic, and funny, and the room was tidy with everything we needed, plus coffee for the morning, herbal tea for the evening, and even some fruit. The location made it easy to get around Sondrio and the area. We hiked the Anello del Grumello trail by its namesake castle, a FAI property, and the Anello delle Cassandre trail with its lovely footbridge over the river. We were in the historic center, in a restricted traffic zone, with plenty of parking close by, including free options. Our family of four stayed one weekend night in the first floor apartment with the pool table, and there was no elevator. It was a quiet stay in a beautiful old building. The apartment was bright, spacious, well laid out, equipped with everything, and clean. The billiards table was fun for the family. The owner was very kind and helpful, and gave us great ideas for aperitifs, dinner, and breakfast. It was a pleasant stay and good value. I'd come back and recommend it.
