The owners are so kind that you feel welcomed into their family, and the hotel works just as well for adults as it does for kids. There are little peaceful corners all over, plus lovely pools, saunas, a hammam and massages. The modern underground wing, with its spacious floor-to-ceiling suites and beautiful spa, sits so naturally alongside the old building. And every window seems to catch the Dolomites in gorgeous light. Breakfast has mountain eggs, while the gardens even have a life-sized chess set, ponies and a whimsical Wes Anderson sort of feel. It all feels like a fairy tale. Can't wait to come back in bloom season.

The meals were really tasty and the staff were professional. A lovely hotel in a charming mountain setting, with everything at a high level.

The pool was a real highlight, along with the calm gardens and thoughtfully put-together interiors. This is a special hotel, mixing mountain-style charm with great facilities and warm, attentive staff. Getting here without a car is easy too, with a scenic 12-minute cable car ride from Bolzano. I came with my children, who were 9 and 6, and we loved it just as much as we did last year. We're already looking forward to coming back.

We checked by phone before coming to Park Hotel Holzner for coffee and soft drinks today, but it turned into a very disappointing visit. We were rudely moved with our labrador boy to the bar area, then nobody took our order and there wasn't anyone at the bar. We left, and won't be returning.

We haven't stayed overnight, so I can't say anything about the rooms. But sitting out on the porch with drinks was enough to make us want to return for a long stay. We'll definitely be back.
