Breakfast here was one of our best in Italy, and dinner at EnoRistrò is well worth trying. We also loved the rooms, with their modern comforts and rustic feel, though keep in mind there are stairs in this very old building. The Hotel della Fortezza is tucked inside Fortezza Orsini, a magnificent 12th-century fortress in the little town of Sorano. The people made the stay just as special as the place. Before we arrived and while we were there, communication was personal, clear, and professional. We got in late, after reception had closed, but the directions they left made it easy to find our rooms and settle in. The owner and his lovely wife helped make the visit feel magical. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels over the years, and this is one of our absolute favorites. The fortress itself is worth a visit, too.

We ended up wishing we could have eaten at the restaurant two nights in a row, but it was closed on Wednesday. No trouble, though, Sorano and the nearby villages have plenty of lovely bars and restaurants. We’d been staying at a hotel five minutes outside Sorano when we came here for dinner. We liked it so much that we booked two rooms for the next night, the last stop on our three-week holiday. It became one of the trip’s highlights. The staff were so friendly, and the food was spectacular. The old fortress has been renovated beautifully, with a lovely balance of old and new. What a wonderful surprise. We’d happily stay again if we get the chance.

The restaurant was a real highlight for us. The dishes felt local and full of care, with honest Tuscan flavors. You could sense how much passion went into the cooking. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Cristiano and Silvia, the owners, were so kind and helpful, and the whole team showed the same warmth. That care came through in the service, breakfast, and the atmosphere around the hotel. The place has a peaceful, distinctive Tuscan character, and everything was kept beautifully, with close attention to detail and respect for local tradition. We left with very happy memories and would definitely come back. A lovely choice for anyone after a heartfelt, authentic Tuscan stay. And hopefully one day we’ll get to welcome you to Bonaire! Thanks.

The afternoon drinks and dinners were just right, especially with those amazing sunsets. We stayed four nights at Hotel Della Fortezza, and it was the highlight of our 17-day trip through Tuscany. The room was amazing and the bed really comfortable. From arrival right through to leaving, Cristiano, Sylvia, and the team looked after us so well. We’ll definitely be back. Hugs from Bonaire.

The castle rooms aren’t quite what you’d expect from an air-conditioning point of view, since they’re not “normal” rooms. That actually made the stay feel even more special rather than taking away from it. Beautiful hotel in a breathtaking spot. The service was excellent, and both the restaurant and breakfast more than lived up to expectations. Highly recommend it as a stop on a road trip through Tuscany.
