The walk down to Sorrento is a real hike from the hillside village of Priora, but if you’re reasonably fit, the 4km there and back is a beautiful route and can be preferable to hunting for parking. We did it almost every day, though it can leave you sweaty. Renting a car also makes getting to Pompeii, about an hour away, and the coastal beaches easier than relying on taxis or buses. Casa Chery was a fantastic vacation rental, booked easily through AirBnB. It’s up on a hill with an amazing view over Sorrento, and I’d stay there every time. The newly renovated place is modern, comfortable, air conditioned and has a full kitchen. As someone with celiac disease who prefers to cook to avoid getting sick, that worked especially well for me. There’s a fun trail with lots of stairs down to Sorrento :-) and Trattoria da Luciano a Priora nearby serves excellent Italian food. The village setting is quiet and cosy, and the apartment itself is new, clean and very good. The view is amazing! Grazie mille!

Fresh lemonade from the lemon tree by the entrance became part of the morning routine. The place is great, clean and comfortable, with modern appliances, a lovely host and an awesome view. Just don’t bring your Ranger Rover, the entrance is really tight.
