The restaurant's food was excellent, beautifully prepared and suited the hotel's distinguished reputation. The beach and private pier were impressive too, with a rare feeling of peace and privacy by the sea. Our room was immaculate, elegant, quiet, and maintained to a high standard, with a beautiful sea view. We were also greeted with a surprise bottle of champagne, a lovely and memorable gesture. From the seamless valet on arrival to our departure, the care was impeccable. The staff were warm, courteous, and attentive, anticipating what we needed and handling every request with ease. We'll definitely return! :)

We visited with our toddler in May and stayed in a deluxe junior suite. The view from our room was unbelievably beautiful, and I'd strongly recommend a junior suite here. The hotel and its grounds, the service, and the rooms were all amazing. Medelina kept our room spotless every day and was always friendly. At breakfast, the staff were welcoming and organized, and Franco made sure our toddler had whatever he needed to be comfortable while we ate. Max at the front desk also checked each day that we had what we needed before heading out, and knew us by name by the time we left. Sorrento has plenty to do, but we loved being able to relax on the hotel grounds and enjoy the amenities and views. The private beach club was a special touch, and aperitivo overlooking the sea and Mt. Vesuvius was hard to beat. I'd highly recommend staying here in Sorrento!

We only wish the beach resort menu had more to offer. Otherwise, this was our favorite hotel of the five five-star places we stayed at on our Italy trip. The views, rooms, amenities, service, beach club, and drinks were all fantastic, and the shower was the best we've ever had in a hotel. The bed, pillows, and every part of the room were incredibly comfortable. If you're going to Sorrento, look no further. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here!

Housekeeping was wonderful, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Our room and view were lovely and lived up to expectations. The restaurant, though, was terrible. The food had no flavor, was often cold or at room temperature, and the chicken was overcooked. Dinner was dry and unappetizing, and the buffet's hot breakfast items were always cold, even after being replenished. One morning our coffee was cold too. The restaurant staff were incredibly rude and seemed sullen, muttering unkind things about diners. When I asked for parmesan on a dish, the waiter sneered, walked off muttering, and I could hear him criticizing my request to coworkers. Another time, my mother was still chewing her last bite when a waiter took the utensils from her hand. At the front desk, politeness was hit or miss. After our five-day stay, it didn't surprise me that nobody asked how things had been at checkout. It felt like they simply didn't care and were relying on the location to keep the hotel's rating high.

The staff made this stay stand out even beyond the beautiful hotel. After my suitcase disappeared at the Rome train station, Max Pollio at reception promised to keep contacting the station police. I’d assumed it was gone for good, including a brand-new suitcase and unworn Ferragamo shoes worth 700EU. Two weeks after I got back to the U.S., Max called to say he’d found it and arranged to have it shipped to my home. He kept his word and didn’t give up. The hotel itself was the best of the five-star places we stayed at in Venice, Rome, and the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori: spotless, spacious rooms, and a walkout balcony with a hot tub and amazing bay views at sunrise and sunset. We’ll stay there on our next Italy trip. Ask for Max and tell him Robert sent you!
