Our room was poorly cleaned when we arrived, and maintenance fell well short of expectations. We repeatedly found bugs, including a lizard, and reported the problems several times. Twice it took staff hours to respond, and once nobody came at all, even after we went to reception in person. Before the trip, I emailed customer service three times and never received a reply. The booking itself had been frustrating too: I selected a Classic Room at the advertised 1,386.00 EUR, but after entering payment details, an error said only a Deluxe Room at 1,836.00 EUR was available. The Classic option had appeared available for our dates, so being pushed to the higher price so late felt misleading. Our friends had the same issue and got their Classic rate honored after contacting customer service. I was told no adjustment could be made, and when I raised it on arrival, the only option offered was to cancel and find another hotel. From the booking experience through the stay, the service and room conditions failed even basic expectations. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves both booking and on-site service.

A clean, spacious room and lovely rooftop pool with views over the area made for a nice stay at Grand Hotel Cesare Augusto in Sorrento. Reception staff were consistently friendly and helpful, with good tips for things to do locally. The location is hard to beat, close to the train station and town center. It was great value and a convenient base for exploring the amalfi coast.

The one small inconvenience was that there wasn’t an iron in our room. Luckily, the hotel had a shared iron downstairs, which was a handy solution. We loved the rooftop pool and bar, with beautiful views and plenty of sun for relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and had lots of options. The Grand Hotel Cesare Augusto was a peaceful, relaxing spot right in the heart of Sorrento, and our stay was amazing. We’re glad we chose it and highly recommend it.

Great service and breakfast, and the location is very good. The rooms are a good size, but at least on the lower floors they feel quite dated. I also didn’t find the bed very comfortable.

The location, room, and facilities are really good, and it’s a strong choice in Sorrento, close to both the station and the city center. But the rule against bringing food into rooms is really stupid. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world and never seen that before. Most of the negative comments seem to be about this rule, and the hotel should reconsider it.
