Hotel Savoia Sorrento

The location is convenient, with the train station and city center both a short walk away. This welcoming family-run 3-star hotel has friendly staff. Our room was spacious and very clean, and that bright ceiling light was a real plus. It’s hard to find hotel rooms where the lighting actually brightens the whole space. The furniture is a little old-fashioned but well cared for, and it gives the place a cozy, homey feel.

We felt safe here and really well looked after. The staff were wonderful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel Savoia is right in central Sorrento, and it was a great find after a lot of searching for somewhere affordable that still met a good standard in an expensive town. We’ll be back on another trip. The family also owns ReFood, a restaurant in central Sorrento, and it’s amazing. They use ingredients from their own local farm and make everything by hand, including the most delicious olive oil I’ve ever tasted. Hotel guests get a discount too. Hotel Savoia is a hidden gem!

We’ll stay here again when we return. It’s a safe-feeling walk around the hotel day or night, and the main piazza is close by. The rooms are in an adjoining building, but it’s literally next door and wasn’t an issue for us at all. I hadn’t even noticed it until I read other reviews. We stayed two nights and found the place charming. It’s family-owned, the staff were nice and helpful, and when we arrived late they walked us to our room. The room was comfortable and well air-conditioned, which was welcome in midsummer. Breakfast was good, just what you’d expect from an Italian hotel. The woman making coffee remembered our order the next day.

Please avoid this hotel. I stayed two nights in July 2024, in rooms 14 and 15, and want to warn anyone considering it. The manager was very unpleasant, and I found her incompetent and dishonest. She gave me a triple room even though I had booked a double, charged me more, and never acknowledged the mistake. She then offered a discount if I paid in cash. Thanks to the Italian tax authorities! The room was very old, the bathroom smelled of sewage, and it faced a noisy street from 7:00 AM. The rooms are reached through the adjoining building rather than the hotel itself. The towels were very worn and even dirty. Breakfast hygiene was poor too. Fresh items like ham and cheese weren’t refrigerated, and an employee offered bread to customers after touching it with her fingers. The staff also seemed untrained and incompetent. So, in my view, the earlier negative comments are true. For heaven’s sake, avoid this place. I think they must have bought their 3 stars, which may be possible in southern Italy. They seem focused on filling their pockets rather than customer satisfaction.
