Hotel Spicy

A very good, laid-back place, and the service was the best part. After checkout we wanted to keep looking around central Sorrento, so they offered to hold our luggage until we left. I could come back to change clothes and leave the bags with them again before heading off. Breakfast was nice too.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the coffee, and the woman taking orders was lovely. I also felt safe traveling alone, and the night-shift man who checked me in was friendly and carried my bags to the room. I was traveling on a budget, so I expected a small room and some inconvenience getting around. The room was clean, though I did spot a hair and a fly came in from the balcony. You can hear other guests and people on the stairs, but as a light sleeper I wasn't bothered. The bathroom had a strange smell when the fan was running, which didn't trouble me. There are mostly sweet breakfast choices, which seemed normal based on what I'd seen at restaurants in Italy. A bus stops at the campground just around the bend and costs 2 euros, but it doesn't keep to a schedule. The road is busy and has no sidewalks, so use common sense. My one small disappointment was the power lines in the view from room 109. I should have asked for a higher room. I was nervous after reading such mixed reviews, but the stay went well and exceeded my expectations. If you're after American-style all-inclusive convenience, this isn't the place. As a travel agent, I'd recommend it to people wanting to visit sorrento on a budget.

The bus stop nearby makes it easy to get to downtown sorrento or the marina. We had a great stay, with helpful staff, a filling and tasty breakfast, and a shower that got properly hot. The AC worked perfectly too. Highly recommend.

We traveled with our two daughters and would happily come back. The hotel is outside the city, so getting around means taking a taxi, but Hotel Spicy makes good use of its location. The complimentary shuttle rides to local restaurants were a thoughtful extra, and the team treated us warmly throughout. Our room was small but cleverly laid out, spotless, fresh-smelling, and carefully tidied each day. The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was generous and filling. Thanks especially to Elisabeth, who came to our rescue at the last minute and saved one of our days. Some people expect five-star service while paying for a one-star hotel, so don't let the negative reviews put you off.
