When we entered the port of Sorrento on April 30, 2026, we followed the stated procedure and tried to call the port over VHF radio. They clearly heard us but didn’t answer. We later learned they use a different channel from the one listed in our vessel’s handbook. After we docked, staff came over and told us to leave the marina in a discourteous, rather rude way. They wouldn’t accept that we had tried to contact them, even though our attempts were on a different channel that wasn’t mentioned in our documentation. I’m posting this for others considering a visit, and for the port authority staff to think again about how they treat visiting sailors. The marina was nearly empty, and this was outside peak season.

We spent a week in the B&B. It’s right on the waterfront with an amazing view, close to town but away from the crowds.

The view is really nice, but the food was just okay. They’re very pushy about getting you in, and offer free wine, then make you pay, lol.

The colorful houses and boats give Marina Grande in Sorrento a special feel, and it’s peaceful enough to relax. It’s also a traditional fishing village, so you can get fresh seafood at the restaurants right by the water. The beach is beautiful and charming, with stunning views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
