Melrose Sorrento

This was the worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve travelled a lot and stayed in plenty of places. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom was dirty. The cleaner came on day two, yet the sink tap was still dirty when we returned. The soap and hand wash seemed like cheap imitations: they wouldn’t rinse off properly and left our hands sticky. Finding the place was a hassle because, as others have said, it isn’t clearly signposted. We lost 20 minutes looking for it, then had to call the owner to check in. That should be explained on booking.com and Expedia, and it cost us more time. On arrival day, I walked down a narrow corridor and found breakfast stored in a tiny room with cleaning products, breakfast supplies, a small sink, and washing loads. It was filthy. Croissants for guests were left unwrapped on top of the microwave, with cleaning products and dirty cloths nearby. I clearly didn’t eat breakfast there. The next morning, a woman from the accommodation knocked to bring water. My husband was awake and answered, and she came into our room to talk with him while I was still asleep. I woke and told her, but she carried on. She’d already been talking to other guests outside our room earlier, so I was shocked she came in and disturbed my sleep. She wanted to collect the city tax. Why not ask at check-in or check-out, or choose a more appropriate time? I don’t understand how this guesthouse prides itself on anything. Bad accommodation and bad service. Avoid!
