The staff were so helpful and friendly that nothing felt like too much trouble. Our large room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It’s about a 15-minute stroll into central Sorrento, which made this a handy base for visiting the Amalfi Coast. We’d gladly stay again.

We really enjoyed having a self-catering apartment and feeling a bit more like locals, rather than staying in a hotel farther from town. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, plus a very comfortable king-size bed. We’ve never slept so well. It’s part of a twin property with the luxury Grand Hotel Riviera, so the standards are high. The modern, air-conditioned block is about a five-minute walk from the main part of Sorrento, with bars, food shops, and a large supermarket nearby. There’s also an excellent family-run restaurant close by for a more authentic meal. The side street gets some scooter noise, as you’d expect in an Italian resort, but it didn’t bother us. With the electric shutters closed, we slept perfectly. Sorrento itself is a large town, but easy to get around on foot. It felt clean and very safe. For Pompeii, we’d suggest a guided half-day or full-day tour so you know what you’re looking at. We mostly took the regular ferries from Sorrento Port instead of dealing with crowded buses, trains, and the congested coast road. The ferry trips also give you lovely views of the Bay of Naples and Amalfi Coast that you can’t see from land. There are steep steps down to the port, though we found going down manageable. A public lift is available in the Gardens if needed, at about 1 euro 20 cents per person. We took the steps down and the lift back. Capri is also possible as a day trip. An early guided tour helps you get ahead of the crowds and enjoy it more. We’d also try the ferries for Amalfi, Positano, and Naples. Despite its dodgy reputation, Naples is worth a visit. The main shopping street and the one just behind it seemed fine, and the city was vibrant. The side-street pizza restaurants were superb, but be sensible about where you go and careful with shoulder bags, theft, and pickpockets. We went on a Sunday and it was busy in a fun, slightly edgy way. The train is another option and very cheap, though often crowded and slow. We spent a pleasant afternoon in Vico Equense, just 20 minutes and five stops from Sorrento. There are lovely local bakeries and restaurants there. Tigabelas was excellent for homemade pizza, and there’s a lovely ice cream shop in the main square.

The location worked really well for us, about five minutes from the station and well placed for the port and Mirana Grande, where we found amazing fish restaurants. It’s a quiet spot, around a ten-minute walk from the main square. The place was spotless and had everything we needed for a good stay. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. What a lovely find, I’d highly recommend it.

We could easily walk to the beach, the old town, and the marina grande area, and the bus and train terminal was handy for day trips from Sorrento. The location is fantastic. The staff were helpful and friendly at any hour, with someone always at the front desk and lots of recommendations. Our room at Hotel Rota Suites was roomy enough for three. There’s a reasonably priced little cafe and bar next door too. The one drawback was that housekeeping came every other day rather than daily. We’d definitely stay here on our next visit.

We were very happy with the booking and thought the suite was great value. It was an easy walk to the main square, and our two balconies faced a side street that stayed fairly quiet at night. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and the suite was comfortable with plenty of room for four. The kitchen area was useful, with a kettle, microwave, and toaster.
