We spent about six days in Sorrento at the end of a three-week trip around Italy, and it was a wonderful finish to a fabulous vacation. Thank you, Giovanni, for your hospitality. Sorrento Coast Suites & Apts is well placed for walking to the town center, shops, and transport. The apartment building is clean, and the other tenants are friendly. Our accommodations were as expected, pleasant, and very economical. If you’re looking for a room with a water view, this isn’t the place, but you get more than you pay for. Breakfast is included at a nearby local café, just a short walk away, about like going down in an elevator and crossing a large hotel. Giovanni gives you unexpectedly attentive concierge help, with grace and professionalism. There’s a welcome packet in the room with details about trips to Pompeii, Capri, and the Almalfi coast. You can book excursions around Sorrento or ask Giovanni to make reservations. They cost a little more than the offers advertised around town, but the groups are small and it saves you from comparing so many options. Giovanni is honest and reliable, and can help you choose what works for you and your family. I strongly recommend the land tour of the Almalfi coast unless you want to swim, in which case the boat tour might suit you better. The land trip goes to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, all small towns worth seeing. Our group was about 15 people, small enough for the van to get close to town, so we had less walking and more time to explore. Even so, I’d suggest hiring a private car. We had a rental car, but I’d hire a driver so you can take in the views and stop wherever you like. You could skip Ravello to spend longer in Positano and Amalfi. Martha and Fred
