Villa De Angelis

We were very happy with our three-night stay. We let the owner know we wouldn't make check-in on time, so he left the keys at the reservation desk with a printed note. We sorted out the paperwork in the morning, then he showed us around and gave us information on places to visit, parking, minibus times and Capri tours. Breakfast was pretty generous, and the rooms were cleaned every day. Highly recommended.

The rooms are large and cosy, with big bathrooms, and the setting is lovely, with views across sorrento and the sea. Breakfast was standard. You can walk into sorrento on a scenic path and steps, about 35 minutes downhill. Without a car, local buses run until around 7pm, while the sita bus goes until almost 10pm. There's also a local bus from sorrento central station via Priora. The host was so friendly and explained everything when we arrived. They even drove us to the train station after 6am so we could catch the Naples train, since there wasn't a bus that early.

The location made every day stressful. The shuttle stops at 7pm, so during our three days in sorrento I had to figure out how to get back each night. A taxi would have cost over 40 euro. If you don't have a car, I wouldn't recommend booking here. The staff were really unkind, and the supposed nice breakfast was just orange juice, nothing to eat. This was a really, really terrible place to stay, and it's so far from the city centre.

It's a quiet, pleasant spot up in the hills of Sorrento, but there's no sea view from the hotel. We paid 1€ city tax right in central Sorrento, so having to pay 3€ here too, 7km from the centre, felt ridiculous.
